In the music industry of the early 21st Century the tides of change move quickly. While the old top-down corporate system collapses, hastened by the leveling of the production and promotion playing fields---due to widespread technological innovation---in its place arises a new industry and a new means of making and distributing music. Brooklyn-based Das Racist, in their own unique way, exemplify this emerging new reality. Though they dont look or sound like anything you have heard from the Hip Hop world before, their empowered DIY approach makes clear: that is the point exactly---bringing Hip Hop and the culture of music into the hyper-connected "flat" world of the 21st Century.
