Ice Cube is one of those few artists that can lay claim to the label of "mogul." Though now a major cross-media star, Cube first hit the mid-80's LA Rap scene with the crew C.I.A., who also featured young up and comer Dr Dre as producer. In 1988 Cube and Dre left C.I.A. and helped form N.W.A. and the history of 20th Century music was changed forever. Cube was credited as the major song writer for most of N.W.A.'s tracks and went on to pen more classics on his barrage of early-90's solo releases: AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (1990), Death Certificate (1991), The Predator (1992) & Lethal Injection (1993). Though now fully enmeshed in television and movies, Cube still holds the mantle of being a godfather of the Rap/Hip-Hop zeitgeist that changed the popular music landscape and, more importantly, still, to this day, gives voice to millions of disaffected urban youth across the world.
