Mos Def, a man who needs little introduction, is one of the most prolific artists in the world of Hip-Hop. A major force in the late-90's underground Hip-Hop renaissance, his  seminal 1998 release Black Star, featuring the legendary collaborating partner Talib Kweli, was seen as a thoughtful and refreshing beacon of peace, reconciliation and progress in the tumultuous Hip-Hop scene at the time. 

As a solo artist Mos has released numerous critically-acclaimed albums, including Black on Both Sides in 1999, The New Danger in 2004, True Magic in 2006, and The Ecstatic in 2009. Over the years, Mos has ventured into different realms of media -- acting in motion pictures and television, writing & activism -- to great success, but his heart still remains in his music and his high-energy live shows are a testament to this. Truly one of the few conscious multi-media stars of today, Soul'd Out Music Festival is proud to bring Mos Def back to Portland.
