Mat Randol is a hip-hop artist from North Portland’s St. John’s neighborhood. His style of rap continues to rise from the depths of rarity and into mainstream appreciation. With a sound that can be described as heavy and impactful, yet effortless and melodic, it’s Mat’s recognizable tone of voice, delivery, and vulnerability that has managed to keep him from falling into a whirlpool of being just another “up-and-coming” artist. Following up 2015’s Alignment project, Mat delivered in 2016 by collaborating with RIAA-certified Gold producer Snugsworth on their Libero EP. Deriving from the Italian word meaning “free”, Libero is comprised of six tracks that raise awareness of present issues in the world, conquering war with one’s self, and coming to terms with both combined. After opening up for 1939 Ensemble and Thundercat last year at Revolution Hall, Mat Randol looks forward to bringing new music and energy again as local support to this year’s Soul’d Out Music Festival.
